From here, click the 3 dots, and select enable multiple controllers. Stream your game, hold down the start button on your shield remote or gamepad, and pull up the in-game overlay. Once you have your Xbox controller (or whatever) directly connected to your PC, enter Gamestream on the ShieldTV. You’ve connected your gamepad of choice to your PC, but can’t get it work in-game at all. The only way to fully control the menus of the ShieldTV itself is to use either the shield remote, shield game controller, or by a controller with the built in bluetooth like a dualshock 4 or xbox one controller, but then we’re back at square one without rumble. If you really wanted to you could just run a long USB cable from PC to Shield TV. Fortunately, my PC is in the next room over, so I can use any bluetooth dongle directly connected to my PC.
You only need this app if your PC is too far away for the xbox adapter/bluetooth’s signal or USB cable to reach.

The reason why the Xbox Wireless Adapter is probably the best option to work with VirtualHere is because general bluetooth dongles require drivers and will probably cause some conflict, as it did with mine. VirtualHere allows you plug in the Xbox Wireless Adapter to your ShieldTV directly, as if it were connected to your PC. You may not need the $50 VirtualHere app either. I was able to get a Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller’s rumble to work on my Shield TV! This will probably work with any non-Nvidia controller as long as it works fine on your PC normally.
